Oil Changes

Oil changes are the most common service that is performed on vehicles. The quality of the oil change depends on where you have it done. At Ross Automotive, we will make sure that the correct oil is used for your specific car or truck.
Not all oils are the same, they should not just put in vehicles at random. Oil is used for specific vehicles decided by the manufacturers and should be the only one used to ensure the longevity of your vehicle. Ross Automotive adheres to that belief and only follows those recommendations to ensure the quality of our service.
Often times a manufacturer will suggest two or more motor oil viscosities for an engine:

  • 5W-20
  • 5W-30
  • 10W-30
  • 0W-30
  • 10W-40

There are also other ways that oil has different categories. The categories are:

Conventional Oil:

Oil for owners that are religious about frequent oil changes and have low-mile engines.

Premium Conventional Oil:

This is the standard new-car oil. Most are available in the common viscosities.

Full-synthetic Oil:

These oils are made for high-tech engines. If these oils pass stringent special tests, it means they have superior, longer-lasting performance in all the critical areas, from viscosity index to protection against engine deposits.

Synthetic-blend Oil:

This is essentially premium conventional oil hit with a dose of synthetic.

They’re formulated to offer better protection during heavier engine loads and the associated
higher engine temperatures.

High-mileage Oil:

Seal conditioners are added to the oil (the oil can be synthetic or conventional) to expand and increase the flexibility of internal engine seals. The conditioners are very precise and can benefit some engines while not affecting others.

Automobile engines have many moving parts, and as these parts move and rub against each other, the force of friction creates heat. Oil lubricates the engine and absorbs heat, allowing the internal parts to work together effectively without overheating. Over time, engine oil breaks down and wears out. When it does, it becomes less effective at lubricating the engine and absorbing heat.

Ross Automotive wants to make sure that your car lasts as long as it possibly can, and we hope to take care of those needs and any other problems you may be dealing with.
